Posted on January 15, 2012 by Ronald Todd

Thousands of truck accidents happen every year. Many truck accidents involve out of state freight companies. To successfully pursue a case for your damages against one of these out of state trucking companies you need an experienced and aggressive attorney on your side.

Most truck accidents result from either driver error or improperly maintained trucks. Truck drivers cause serious accidents when they:

  • Drive tried or fatigued
  • Under the influence of drugs or alcohol
  • Speeding
  • Failure to comply with traffic signals
  • Failure to signal or brake
  • Violation of traffic laws

Another major cause of truck accidents is poor maintenance of trucks. Trucking companies fail to keep their trucks properly maintained, which include:

Falls from Height are the Number 0ne Reason of All Construction Fatalities

Posted on September 14, 2011 by Ronald Todd

Falls from height are the number one cause of construction site fatalities and a major cause of severe injuries such as severe traumatic brain injury, spinal cord paralysis, quadriplegic spinal cord injury and paraplegic spinal cord damage.

Falls from height accidents can be prevented when:

  1. General contractors require all workers at the jobsite to wear appropriate personal protective equipment in all operations that expose workers to construction site hazards of falling from heights (29 CFR 1926.28(a) and 29 CFR 1926.104(a)).
  2. General contractors or their subcontractors provide safety nets when workplaces are more than 25 feet above the ground or water surface, or other surfaces where the use of ladders, scaffold, catch platforms, temporary floors, safety lines, or safety harnesses are impractical (29 CFR 1926.105(a)).
  3. General contracts ensure that suitable ladders are used to gain safe access to all elevations when permanent or temporary stairways or suitable ramps or runways are not present (29 CFR 1926.450(a)(1)).

If you or a loved one has been injured from a fall from height, you need an experienced Indiana injury lawyer. Construction fall accidents can be won or lost based on investigation conducted by your lawyer. The sooner you hire a qualified lawyer, the sooner we can start protecting your rights. Avoiding Crane Accidents on Indiana Construction Sites

Posted on September 14, 2011 by Ronald Todd

Cranes are used on Indiana construction sites to lift heavy loads. Because of their size and the loads that they carry, crane accidents result in construction fatalities and other serious injuries such as severe traumatic brain injury, spinal cord damage, quadriplegic injury or paraplegic injury. These crane accidents occur when the crane is not adequate for the lift, the crane has mechanical defects or there is a crane operator error.

To prevent crane accidents, general contractors need to do the following at every construction site:

  • All crane operators on the jobsite are properly trained and qualified to operate the crane and do the work that needs to be performed (29 CFR 1926.21(b)(2) and 29 CFR 1926.550(b), and ANSI B30.5 5-3.1.2).
  • All contractors using cranes on the jobsite have written procedures to insure the method for lifting is within the manufacturer's specifications (29 CFR 1926.500(a)(1)).

If you or a loved one has been injured in a crane accident, you need an experienced workplace accident lawyer. Crane accident cases can be won or lost based on investigation conducted by your lawyer. The sooner you hire a qualified lawyer, the sooner we can start protecting your rights. We offer evening and weekend hours in addition to our weekly business hours, we are ready to help.
