Posted on September 22, 2011 by Ronald Todd
TV tower installer falls from roof and makes contact with power lines. The installer receives electrocution injuries. He dies from a severe traumatic brain injury due to the high voltage electricity.
Indiana investigators make the following recommends to prevent other construction fatalities:
- Contact utility companies to have power lines insulated or de-energized prior to the commencement of any work tasks.
- Evaluate worksites, identify hazards, and instruct employees in the recognition and avoidance of unsafe working conditions in proximity to high voltage power lines.
- Develop and implement written safety program designed to enable workers to recognize and avoid hazards, especially electrical hazards.
