Indiana Construction Fatalities are Caused by Falling Objects from Height
Posted on September 22, 2011 by Ronald Todd
Companies performing construction need to identify and plan for construction site hazards to keep workers on the job site safe. An object that falls from height can cause a severe traumatic brain injury, spinal cord paralysis or wrongful death.
OSHA recommends the following general ways to avoid the risks of falling objects:
- Wear hardhats;
- Stack materials to prevent sliding, falling or collapse; and
- Use protective measures such as toeboards and debris nets.
For additional information, see 29 CFR 1926.100(a), 1926.102, 1926.250, 1926.451 and 1926.550. By following these OSHA regulations, the dangers from objects falling from height can be eliminated.
