Indiana Electricians are at risk for Electrocution Injuries
Posted on September 14, 2011 by Ronald Todd
Electricians working at construction sites are at risk for an electrocution accident. When OSHA regulations are not followed, construction fatalities occur. To prevent electrocution injuries, the general contractor and the electrical subcontractor, must:
- Ensure all circuits are de-energized before beginning work (29 CFR 1926.416(a)(3)).
- Deactivate and tagout/lockout all equipment or circuits prior to working with the equipment or circuit (29 CFR 1926.417(a)).
- Instruct workers to recognize and avoid unsafe conditions associated with their work (29 CFR 1926.21(b)(2)).
For additional help
- Construction Safety and Health Standards (OSHA 2207).
- OSHA Safety and Health Training Guidelines for Construction (National Technical Information Service - Order No. PB-239-312/AS).
