Iron Worker Falls from Roof

Posted on October 19, 2011 by Ronald Todd

Facts of Construction Accident Indiana

Iron workers in Indiana were staging materials for their next day's work. The foreman sent his co-workers down. A gust of wind blew material into the foreman causing him to fall onto the concrete floor. He was not wearing any fall protection equipment. When the foreman fell from the roof, he sustained multiple injuries and died.

Indiana State FACE Investigators' Recommendations to Prevent Similar Construction Fatalities

  1. Ensure that appropriate fall protection equipment is available and correctly used when working from elevations where there is danger of falling.
  2. Ensure employees are instructed in the recognition, avoidance and applicable regulations concerning the hazards associated with falls.
  3. Encourage workers to actively participate in workplace safety.
