Indiana Laborer Dies from Electrocution Accident While Installing a TV Tower

Facts of Construction Accident Indiana
An employer instructed two employees to install a TV tower for the business. During the installation, the TV tower fell and made contact with the overhead power lines. The workers received electrocution injuries. One of the workers died from a severe traumatic brain injury due to the high voltage electrocution.
Indiana State FACE Investigators' Recommendations to Prevent Similar Construction Fatalities
- Contact utility companies to have power line insulated or de-energized prior to the commencement of any work tasks.
- Evaluate worksites, identify hazards, and instruct employees in the recognition and avoidance of unsafe working conditions in proximity to overhead power lines.
- Develop and implement written safety programs designed to enable workers to recognize and avoid hazards, especially electrical hazards.
