Indiana Laborer Dies from Electrocution Accident While Installing a TV Tower

Facts of Construction Accident Indiana

An employer instructed two employees to install a TV tower for the business. During the installation, the TV tower fell and made contact with the overhead power lines. The workers received electrocution injuries. One of the workers died from a severe traumatic brain injury due to the high voltage electrocution.

Indiana State FACE Investigators' Recommendations to Prevent Similar Construction Fatalities

  1. Contact utility companies to have power line insulated or de-energized prior to the commencement of any work tasks.
  2. Evaluate worksites, identify hazards, and instruct employees in the recognition and avoidance of unsafe working conditions in proximity to overhead power lines.
  3. Develop and implement written safety programs designed to enable workers to recognize and avoid hazards, especially electrical hazards.
