Construction Accident Indiana: Scaffold Accidents
Posted on October 19, 2011 by Ronald Todd
In 2007, there were 88 construction fatalities from a scaffold injury. (See Bureau of Labor Statistic's Census of Fatal Occupational Injuries).
Seventy-two percent of scaffold accidents resulted from one of the following:
- Faulty or inadequate planking;
- Support giving way;
- Precautions not taken to prevent slips and falls from height; and
- Falling objects.
(See Bureau of Labor and Statistics Study).
Unfortunately, all of these construction fatalities could have been prevented if contractors and employers had complied with OSHA standards.
