Chemicals are Construction Site Hazards
Posted on October 19, 2011 by Ronald Todd
Chemicals at a construction site can be hazardous if not properly used and handled.
OSHA requires that:
- Chemicals used at a construction site must have their hazards identified;
- Labels and material safety data sheets (MSDS) must be with all hazardous chemicals; and
- Employers must have the labels and MSDS at the jobsite and must train their workers who to properly handle the chemicals.
When hazardous chemicals are not handled appropriately, construction fatalities and other injuries can occur. Like other construction site hazards, OSHA regulations related to hazardous materials must be followed to prevent injuries to workers.
