Excavations can be Construction Site Fall Hazards in Indiana
Posted on October 13, 2011 by Ronald Todd
Excavations 6 feet or over are construction site fall hazards. The injuries that can result from these excavations include severe traumatic brain injury, spinal injury paralysis and even wrongful death. To protect construction workers against these risks of falls from height, general contractors must comply with OSHA regulations, which require the use of guardrails systems, fences, barricades or covers. (29 CFR 1926.500 -- 1926.503). If there is a walkway across these excavations, guardrails must be used.
