Changing of an 18 Wheeler Truck Tire Ends in Wrongful Death Indiana
Posted on October 13, 2011 by Ronald Todd
The changing of a tire on an 18 wheeler truck can be very dangerous if extreme caution is not taken. An Indiana worker died while changing a tire on an 18 wheeler truck. He was struck by a lock ring when a tire exploded. He died from a cardiac contusion due to the fatal blunt trauma. Companies can prevent this from happening to their workers if they:
- Train all workers on the safe procedures for changing an 18 wheeler truck tire; and
- Routine inspections are performed by a competent person of the rim flanges, rim gutters, ring head surfaces and head of tires.
